Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems (ERRCS)

Why ERRC?

First Responders must be able to maintain 2-way radio communications throughout a building in an emergency situation. Whether they are responding to a fire, medical emergency, or domestic threat, they cannot be in a situation where their radios fail to communicate, this is literally a matter of life and death.

Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems (ERRCS) are utilized in large buildings and underground structures to provide this critical need to communicate. Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems are an important lifesaving technology that enables emergency responders to have effective and reliable communications.

What is ERRC?

The emergency responder radio systems include a combination of a repeater also known as a Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA), a Distributed Antenna System (DAS), and an electrical power backup system, which in most cases is a Battery Backup System (BBU).

The antenna system is comprised of a Donor Antenna that is attached on the outside of the building or structure and a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) which is an array of multiple antennas that provides the signal transmission coverage for the building’s interior compartments and levels.
Through the Antenna System, the BDA transmits and receives boosted radio transmissions between a base station and the interior of large structures that would otherwise not be able to communicate with the outside environment.

The BDA is supported by an emergency Power Backup System or Battery Backup (BBU) system which includes a power supply, energy storage, and battery charging systems.

The combination of these systems is known by many names such as:
• Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems (ERRCS)
• Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES)
• Public Safety Distributed Antenna System (PSDAS)
• Two-Way Radio Communications Enhancement Systems
• Public Safety DAS Systems
• Public Safety Radio Enhancement Systems

What is RF mapping?

Radio Frequency mapping or RF mapping is a graphic representation of how radio frequency RF signals are spread in a certain area. This process is accomplished by RF mapping tools such as software, measurement equipment, and antennas.

The cost of installing and maintaining and ERRCS

In disastrous moments, first responders must be able to communicate with each other. Because an ERRCS system renders the communication between emergency responders reliable and secure.
